The SCI Austin Chapter held a fundraiser Saturday, April 14 to benefit the “Gear Up for Game Wardens” program, a foundation of TP&W that purchases equipment for game wardens. The crawfish boil was held at the home of Chapter President and Vice President Stephanie and Jerel Wottrich. Board members Chet Miles, Tom Chenault and Phil Waldron headed up the cooking team, serving up more than 800 pounds of crawfish, venison sausage, Cajun fried turkey and duck gumbo. It was an afternoon and evening event with food, games, silent auction and raffle as well as a zydeco band.
The Chapter reports that the crawfish boil was a great success with more than 300 attendees including several game wardens joining the festivities. One warden flew a helicopter into a front pasture so Chapter members could see the equipment with which it is outfitted. The Chapter has decided to schedule the fundraiser as an annual event.
