Montana Reopens Outfitting and Guide Services, But Maintains Required Quarantines of Nonresidents
Montana Governor Steve Bullock has announced a phased reopening of Montana, with Phase I including a soft reopening of the outfitting and guiding services industry on Monday, April 27. This means outfitters and guides can restart operations as long as they adhere to social distancing guidelines and sanitation protocols, as the Montana Outfitters and Guides Association had previously recommended.
Importantly, the travel restrictions on nonresident clients remain in place through the end of the state of emergency when Phase III goes into effect or the governor issues a new directive. That means nonresident hunters traveling to Montana are still required to quarantine for 14 days upon arriving in the state. Implementation deadlines for Phase II and III have not been determined yet.
Hunters with planned trips to Montana should frequently check the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks website (http://fwp.mt.gov) for updates. Those with booked hunts should remain in close contact with their outfitter.
