Calling all lawyers…the wait is over! Registration for the 2019 annual Wildlife Law Continuing Legal Education course is now open.
This year will be the 12th time SCI joins with the State bar of Nevada to host “Current Issues in Domestic and International Wildlife and Hunting Law;” a unique course for lawyers that focuses on laws, regulations, policies and judicial opinions related to hunting, firearms use, importation, wildlife management and conservation.
This year’s course includes new topics as well as old favorites. Presenters – experts from federal and state wildlife management agencies, non-governmental organizations and private practice — will discuss the latest hunting-related legal developments from the U.S. Department of the Interior, the difficult challenge of modernizing the Endangered Species Act, the current status on the use and regulation of lead and other forms of ammunition, an overview of the most recent developments in hunting-related criminal law and an introduction to state laws that protect hunters and hunting.
SCI also will bring back old favorites, including the annual overview of the past year’s wildlife law litigation, ethics for the ethical wildlife lawyer and wildlife law jeopardy.
Current Issues in Domestic and International Wildlife and Hunting Law 2019 will be held Friday, Feb. 11, 2019, from 1 – 5:15 p.m. at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nevada. This is a four-hour CLE course, including one hour of professional ethics instruction. The fee of $295 includes the cost of the course and materials, a refreshment break and same-day, half-day attendance at the SCI Annual Hunters’ Convention. (Note: Registration for the SCI Convention does not include payment for attendance at the Wildlife Law CLE Course. Registration for the course must be arranged separately.)
Membership in SCI is not a requirement for attendance. This is the place to get it all for any attorney who would like to fulfill his or her CLE requirements by learning about the latest issues in hunting, conservation, firearms and importation law!
Registration is being handled by the State Bar of Nevada. To register, please use the link below. Note that the State Bar of Nevada will charge an additional $5 as a registration fee.
