Texas Hill Country Chapter (THCC) continues its decade-long contributions to local charities to further SCI’s missions. By supporting local organizations;
the Schreiner University Shooting Team; Kerrville, Texas 4H; Operation Orphans and other worthy recipients, the chapter is making a difference by enhancing the future of SCI. These contributions support activities consistent with the goals of the Chapter. There is an ever-growing list of projects supporting humanitarian efforts, wildlife conservation and partnerships with other similar organizations.
During the past several years, the Schreiner Shooting Sports Society has built a strong shooting program that has grown to be one of the most successful organizations in its history.  Since the team is a student-run club, any student at Schreiner can try out or participate on the team. That gives students the ability to learn about firearm safety and the fundamentals of shooting thus acquiring lifelong skills. The team won the Division ll National Championship on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the 50th annual ACUI Clay Target Collegiate championships at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio.
These local 4-H programs assist in teaching conservation values and shooting skills.
Operation Orphans, a non-profit organization, has provided children with unique and wonderful outdoor experiences since 1960 by sponsoring hunting and fishing trips in the Texas Hill Country. In many cases, this is the first real such experience these children have had.
Officially chartered in October 2008, the THCC is dedicated to sportsmen’s interests in the Hill Country and around the world. For more information, visit https://www.texashillcountrysci.org, or visit the Facebook page.
